The Chilean miners that were trapped in a mine collapse on August 5th were rescued on October 13th and they were wearing Bata Industrial Boots. These boots were highly technical based on the 700 meter depths and extreme conditions in which the miners worked. | A Retail meeting was held at Bata head office in Feb 2010. The meeting was opened by Mr Garces who encouraged the team andin no uncertain terms made clear the fact that change within the organisation was inevitable and should be embraced with positive attitudes. Mr Qayyum was at the helm for the rest of the 3 day workshop. He explained in detail the vision of the Retail division and addressed other important issues viz: Cutting back on expenses, Comprehensive duties of District Managers and store staff etc. The interactive format of the meeting brought to the fore many challenges that stores face around the country and creative problem solving ideas, some of which have already been implemented.
