Receipt Policy

Our Promise to you:
Bata South Africa stocks the highest quality of goods. We are confident that you will be satisfied with every purchase you make. If you experience any problem or concern, please refer to the options below. We are committed to operate our business in terms of the Consumer Protection Act and all policies are subject to the CPA.

Exchange & refund policy: We will refund or exchange all saleable goods if you return them within 14 days of purchase with the original receipt, the goods in their original condition and packaging and you may not have used them at all. The customer must be entirely satisfied with the fit of the shoe before using it as we cannot exchange or refund merchandise in a used condition. Should you not have a till slip, we will be happy to exchange your purchase at the current system price provided all requirements above are met. Items purchased via the Lay-Buy facility can be refunded or exchanged as per the Lay-buy agreement. Please note correct fitting is the customers responsibility and Bata South Africa will not be held responsible for shoes not fitting correctly as not all shoe styles fit all feet.

Merchandise excluded from the 14 day exchange or refund policy:
Due to hygiene reasons, the merchandise we exclude from the 14 day return and exchange policy are: sale, promotional, markdown stock, polishes, socks and related  accessories.

What can customers do if the goods are defective? If your merchandise is identified as defective within the first 6 months of purchase, we will repair them, exchange them or give you a refund. Kindly note that it may not be possible to determine in-store whether goods have a defect, failure or have been damaged. This is of importance as it determines whether the goods may be repaired, replaced or refunded. Accordingly, we reserve the right to refer returned goods for product review with the manufacturer prior to repairing, replacing or refunding and to provide you with feedback within 10 days of receipt of the returned goods and to action accordingly.

In what instances will the BATA 6 month warranty not apply? Incorrect cleaning methods, accidental damage, damage caused by extreme wear, damage caused by misuse or goods used for a purpose other than the purpose for which they were manufactured. Once we have accepted a return and approved a refund, you will receive the refund in cash or gift card (available at selected stores). Please be sure that you are happy with your purchase when you buy discounted goods as we do not provide credit notes for sale items. We will however gladly exchange for bigger or smaller sizes. We do not accept any returns in our factory stores unless regular priced merchandise was purchased. Gift Vouchers will not be exchanged for cash and no change will be given. Gift vouchers must be used at once to redeem full value available.
